Pottery

Hand-built pottery allows me to feel how the clay moves and shapes in my hands. There are many aspects to creating new pieces: the joy of finding old items for molds, watching the pieces take shape, selecting colors that express what I’m trying to convey. Many pieces are inspired by the Maine coast and my own back yard.

Colors are fascinating. Imagining how they will look when selecting. Seeing how they flowed and settled in the final firing. The color palette keeps changing as the right colors are “found”. We prefer bright and deep-colored lead-free glazes.

Pieces change as new inspirations come to life…

We fire our pieces in a 100% solar-powered kiln.
